MINNESOTA, USA — The team behind Save A Fox Rescue has confirmed the passing of Finnegan Fox, one of the sanctuary’s most beloved residents and an internet favorite, whose death has deeply saddened animal lovers and followers of the rescue community. The announcement was made public on January 30, 2026, through a statement shared by the rescue’s founder’s family.
Finnegan had been a prominent figure on the Save A Fox Rescue YouTube and social media channels, where he and other rescued foxes helped raise awareness about the needs of captive‑born foxes and other animals. His playful personality and expressive behavior made him a fan favorite, and he was widely known among viewers of the channel that documents the rescue and care of foxes.
In a video posted to the organization’s YouTube page, Ethan Frankamp, husband of the late Save A Fox founder Mikayla Raines, shared the news and expressed deep sorrow. He explained that Finnegan had passed away about two months earlier, but the family delayed making the announcement out of difficulty coping with multiple personal losses. “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Finnegan Fox,” Frankamp wrote.
Finnegan’s death comes after the tragic loss of Mikayla Raines in June 2025, when she died by suicide at the age of 30. Raines founded Save A Fox in 2017 and built the rescue into a widely followed nonprofit dedicated to supporting foxes from fur farms, pet surrenders, and other rescue situations. Her work drew millions of viewers, and Finnegan was one of the most recognizable animals featured on the channel.

In his remarks, Frankamp noted that dealing with the loss of both Mikayla and Finnegan had been profoundly difficult, which contributed to the delay in the announcement. He also offered thanks to supporters and invited those willing to help to consider donating to Save A Fox to support its ongoing mission.
Finnegan’s legacy extends beyond his appearances on camera. Fans remember him for his charismatic presence and the joy he brought to those who followed the rescue’s mission. Messages of condolence and remembrance have circulated across social media, with many expressing how much Finnegan and the broader Save A Fox community meant to them.
Though Finnegan is no longer with us, his influence on the rescue’s work and the hearts of those who watched him live on. His memory will be a reminder of the bond between humans and the animals they care for.
