Luke was born on February 22, 2002 in Belleville, IL, to Tim and Cori (née Abrams) Kitterman. He grew up attending Okawville Grade School and Immanuel Lutheran School, and later graduated from Wesclin High School in Trenton, IL.
Luke R. Kitterman, 23 years old, of New Memphis, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, near New Baden, Illinois. His death deeply saddened family, friends, and his community
Rather than pursue college, Luke chose a path in the trades: he worked with the Laborers Local 459 in Belleville and later with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 520 out of Granite City, IL.
Luke was an avid outdoorsman who loved being outside — especially hunting, fishing, boating, and spending time in nature. He was also a conservationist and involved with Ducks Unlimited, caring deeply about protecting forests, rivers, and lakes for future generations. He enjoyed hanging out with family and friends and will be remembered for living life to the fullest.
💔 Tragic Circumstances of His Passing
Luke died while trying to rescue his beloved dog, Bourbon, who had fallen through the ice on a frozen pond while they were out hunting with friends. He had successfully saved the dog once but fell through the ice during a second attempt to help the animal and did not resurface. Emergency responders conducted an extensive search and ultimately recovered his body the next day.
